What Is Plot, Character, And Setting In Prose...???

In a story consist of some elements like plot, character and setting.
1.    PLOT
Plot is not simply the events recounted in the story but the author’s arrangement of those events according to their causal relationships.
There are three kinds of plot:
-    Begining
-    Middle
-    End
We begin by discussing the structure of plot in termsbof beginning, middle and end. We may now see that the beginning takes us from exposition to the initial statement of conflict; the middle, from conflict through complication to climax  and the end, from climax to denoument.
The terms of the story consists of:
a.    Exposition
The first thing we may note about this paragraph is that it provides us with a certain amount of information to introduce character and the setting of the story.
b.    Rising Action
Some promblems of the story will be raise.
c.    Climax
The paek of the conflict.
d.    Falling Action
The result or effect from conflict to character and setting.
e.    Resolution
The conclude or ending of the story containing the problem solution.
 
2.    CHARACTER
Character is the participant of the story. They are protagonist ( the main character), antagonist (have a bad character), and the minor character ( which usually have interaction with protagonist to help the story).
Character consists of two general catagories:
a.    Simple (flat) character
The simple or flat character is less the representation of a human personality than embodiment of a single attitude or obsession in the character . This character flat because we see only one side of the person.
b.     Complex (round) character
We can see all side of person in the story. The complex character is obviously more life like than the simple, because in life poeple are not simply embodiment of the single attitude.

CHARACTERIZATION
The way how the writer or author conface his/her character. The author’s usually we use direct ( explicit) or indirect (implicit) to conface the character.
There are two characterizations such as:
a.    Direct Characterization
The author’s simply tells the readers what the character is like.
b.    Indirect Characterization
The readers should find out the characteristic of the character by seeing looks or appearences speech or words, action, and also their interaction with another caharacters.
METHOD OF CHARACTER PORTRAYAL
    The author must choose not only what kind of character he will present, but also by what methods he will present them.  We shall clssyfy these as:
a.    Discursive Method
The author who chooses the discursive method simply tell us about his characters.
b.    Dramatic Method
How the readers to understand or determined the character of the story is by seeing his action and also the speech of the character.
c.    Character on the other character
We can see one of the character from see the other character.
d.    Contextual Method
By the contextual method we mean the device of suggesting character by the verbal context that surrounds the character. Verbal context is surround the character tell us about the character itself.
e.    Mixing Method
Combination with the other methods or mix some methods. In evaluation an author’s method of characterization, the readers must keep in mind appopriateness of author’s methods to the overall design of the story.
 
3.    SETTING
Everything that happens somewhere at sometime. Setting refers to the point where and when a story take place or accur.  There are two types of setting such as:
a.    Neutral setting
Often the setting in a work of story is little more than a reflection of the truth than things have to happen somewhere. So, we get simple/ general information.
b.    Spiritual Setting
We can get more spesific information ( where/place, time) of the story accur.
